GO GO GO to the SA Music Conference

Us media people can really be a boring bunch – or maybe it was the hangover from the SAMA nominee announcements the night before. The Launch of the SA Music Conference had all the makings of a good party – free Millers, great food and fabulous Dj’s – but everyone faded early without so much as a “throw your hands up” on the beautiful dance floor. At least I got to appreciate the SAB building. All …I can say is WOW! It is a piece of architectural and artistic heaven. If you happen to be going past Park Lane in Sandton try to wiggle your way inside just to get a look. Christos, Vinny and Greg Maloka spoke about the upcoming, first ever SA Music conference and were very excited about the impact that local music is making on a global scale. Back from Miami, their mission is to hot up the Kwaito scene here at home and take SA House international. The conference starts on the 29th of March and runs til the 2nd of April. Participants will be treated to the best of the best in SA Dj’s, taking part in workshops with the likes of Fresh, Christos, Charles Webster, French house guru – Jeff K, Glen Lewis, Vinny Da Vinci and Oskido. The conference is sponsored by Miller who believes that the workshops will help develop dance music in SA. “MGD believes that it is only through sharing ideas and learning from what the rest of the world is doing in dance music we will be able to reach the next level and keep excelling,” said MGD brand manager Abey Mokgwatsane. It sounds fabulous – booze and music getting into bed together. I think a powerful partnership like this one is all good. Best part though? The closing party at Carfax on Saturday the 2nd of April. Check out all 4 dance floors with the above Dj’s and Ready D who I was just wondering yesterday when I was going to see again! Awesome – don’t miss it. Check out our earlier post here...
