Fokofpolisiekar is Francois van Coke (lead vocals), Hunter Kennedy (guitar), Johnny de Ridder (lead guitar), Wynand Myburgh (bass) and Jaco Snakehead Venter (drums). The band has become known for their explosive live performances and raw on-stage energy. Controversial and ever questioning in their lyrics as well as their lifestyle, the band has generated much controversy in the South African media.

Five times SAMA nominated, MTV MAMA award winning band, Gangs of Ballet is a Durban band comprising of four musicians and friends – three of which have undertaken studying Music at University level. Their sound cannot be pinned down to one specific genre but rather experiments with an eclectic mix of alternative, melodic, anthemic, and electronic and dance. Gangs of Ballet is set for international stardom and one of the most exciting and talented bands borne from South Africa in recent years and set to become one of the most promising impactful and significant bands in South African music history in this genre.

In the six years since Zebra & Giraffe played their first show to an expectant crowd at Oppikoppi Wild Card 2008, the band have headlined all of South Africa’s major festivals, toured the length and breadth of the country and played alongside The Killers, Snow Patrol, Oasis, Sum41, Prodigy and Panic at the Disco. In 2009 they were invited to play live at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Nairobi, Kenya, and in 2011 played at MusExpo, “the United Nations of music and media”, in Los Angeles.

The Parlotones

Black Cat Bones can be described as modern-day storytellers, representing life through music in its most honest form. Their collective influences fused together in an audio diary made up of traditional, as well as modern Blues, Rock, Folk, and Country-inspired music, paying tribute to the founders of these classic genres while maintaining a strong modernized presence.

Meet Van Coke Kartel – Jedd Kossew (lead guitar & vocals), Dylan Hunt (drums), Francois Van Coke (vocals & guitar) and Wynand Myburgh (bass) Francois Van Coke and Wynand Myburgh who grew up in Bellville together, sharing their love for music for as many years as they have been friends. Van Coke Kartel’s energetic, no-nonsense Rock & Roll show has come to be known as a high-energy spectacular and today they are one of South Africa’s most popular rock bands.

Shadowclub planned to record their debut album in just 12 days, but completed it in nine, says much about the Johannesburg based trio’s attitude to music. Their rootsy, bluesy rock is purposely fuss free. The dozen songs on their debut, ‘Guns And Money’, were recorded live with no click tracks and no guide tracks. Modern recording techniques may have been used, but they certainly weren’t relied on. Like the classic rock acts that inspire them, Shadowclub are about powerful songs performed with a passion that explodes from the speakers and, live, can be felt at full force by their fans.

The Taxi Violence sound can be described as blues-infused, retro rock with a pinch of sleaze and bourbon. Since their inception, Taxi Violence have gone on to rock every significant venue and headline every major festival in South Africa, as well as taking their unique brand of rock and quality live shows abroad.

Wrestlerish is a triple SAMA, triple MK Award, Pendoring Award nominated and Loerie Award winning band from Gauteng, currently signed to Sony Music South Africa. They have released two critically acclaimed albums and acknowledged as one of the Top 20 most important acts in SA music by The Sunday Times.

Gangs-of-Ballet

Since launching at the beginning of 2012 and taking to stages across the greater Cape region, Al Bairre, the Cape Town based five-piece symphonic indie-rock band, who combine cello, violins, guitars, ukelele and drums, has played numerous successful shows alongside great acts such as Shadowclub, Fokofpolisiekar, Desmond & the Tutus and Matthew Mole. Al Bairre has played at Synergy Live Music Festival, Flamjangled Tea Party and Splashy Fen.
