Fashion Week: Spero Villioti

When you can have an entire marching band on stage playing the latest pop music on their trumpets and drums preceding the exhibition of your fashion range I think you know you have arrived- the band was so superb but certainly didn’t upstage the Spero Villioti winter range! Click here to see the show. Believe it or not the band played Mary J’s “Hands Up”, Gwen Stefani’s “Wind It Up” and my favorite track of the moment My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Parade” and upon their dramatic exit entered in true Spero Villioti glamour some of the most exquisite gowns! Definitely not colour shy the silky smooth flamingo style dresses flowed flawlessly from each elegant model- picture perfect! He shared the stage with his students who showcased the most beautiful detailed hats that would make tea party judges spin on their heads. The band, the dresses and the elegantly poised models all put together made the show a great success and it received a well deserved standing ovation! Click here to see photos of the show. Fashion Week: Funky Fundudzi

Vince, one of Represent’s fashion crazy citizen journo’s was hanging onto his seat when he found himself sitting next to a rather famous fellow fashionista at the Fundudzi show last night. Craig Jacobs dedicated his range to the late Lebo Mathosa and when the song “Free” began glaring out of the speakers the entire room had goose bumps.  Click here to see the range. When one of SA’s renowned trend setter and fashionista (Dion Chang) is sitting next to you in the front row at one of the hottest fashion events of the Joburg calendar you just know you are at the right place at just the right time! And then when the garments that follow are just so elegant and beautiful you can’t help but sit back and smile as your head moves from side to side with every new model entering the catwalk. The much anticipated show received a standing ovation and no one deserved it more, the Fundudzi collection is made up of lots of warm and fuzzy fabrics making winter more chic and knit-wear more glam! The most amazing hoodie woolen dresses, knitted multi coloured bracelets with pink ribbons hung off the arms of the models and only word I can find to describe the edgy jewelry is “winner!” Scarf’s, knitted rose necklaces and ever so glam leggings were a big part of the Fundudzi collection, and the edgy easy flowing evening wear complete with stockings added an interesting twist to the collection. All in all I think Craig Jacobs put on an excellent show and all of Joburg’s “A” list will or should agree, right – Dion? Click here to see photos from the show. Fashion Week: Malick and Kobus Dippenaar

I, *Miss P* am a serious Sandtonite this week as I am going to be hanging out at the Audi Joburg Fashion Week which ends on Saturday the 17th February. I will be bringing the action to you as it happens, so if you’re into fashion like I am or your boss wouldn’t let you off work, keep your browser on Represent for the next few days http://represent.johannvisagie.com/ and press F5 (that refreshes the page) after every few hours for our update!  Audi Fashion Week is being held at the Nelson Mandela Square inside a big beautiful glass marquee and yep you guessed it everyone in the fashion world is here… and might I say looking fabulous! Kicking things off in a really chilled Valentines vibe was Malick and Kobus Dippenaar.  Click here to see our pics of the show. Love was in the air with Cape Town born Malick’s ravishing red range. Elegant and classic – his styling is really practical style and most definitely ‘ready to wear’. His winter range daywear collection is made up of richly textured cloth that is easy on the eye. Kobus Dippenaar has definitely got an eye for style, particularly considering that I am not one of those ‘picture myself in a wedding dress’ kind of girls – but some of those gowns just got me thinking… they were just beautiful! As Kobus says: “I don’t try and keep up with what is fashionable. The prevailing fashion may not suit a particular woman” (I like that!) Fashion Week: Hip Hop – you don’t stop!

With every new song came a whole new look, it started off like a subtle reminder of the Fashion Movie of the Year 06, “The Devil Wears Prada” with red sexy, slinky dresses and models carrying devil forks. The Hip Hop collection was a wide colour palette of Reds, Pinks, Blacks, Blues, Whites and some Golds… Love it.   The Hip Hop show was amazing,  click here to see their style, certainly better than their last collection- one could see great effort and thought was put into this one- I have a long list of favourites- something from each colour- the only unmatched part of the outfits were the terrible shoes (I shant say much more about them!) RED/ PINK: Pink leather gloves, pretty floral corset’s, long red velvet body hugging dresses, some with beautiful long trails. BLACK: Killer suits, stripped stockings, lacy polka dot tea party dresses, gorgeous grey/ pink snugly winter jackets, and a bit of gold. NAVY/ BLUES: Long silky evening dresses, some with that crushed/ crumpled effect, the sweetest top hats to make the perfect statement, pinky/ purpley woollen jackets. WHITE: A beautiful African inspired lace dress worn with tiny tight white silky shorts and a big kudu horns to add more afro- flava to the dress.   These images are supplied by Audi Joburg Fashion Week, click here to go to the...

Fashion Week: PORT in association with Caprice

Titled “The New Olympians” Craig Port’s collection was yet another display of pretty practicality! The Port/ Caprice collaboration made things very interesting for everyone in the crowd. Just as we were checking out some really snuggly men’s jackets (these are going to be perfect for winter!) a slinky model would walk down the glass/ mirror stage in the sexiest underwear under the sun. Catch pics of Craig and Caprice’s range here.  The definition of The New Olympians range? Well he says: ‘The precariously nestled snow- fields high up on mountainous slopes that cut through the weather and the grid of civilization’ (Hmmm, I guess that means, wear my clothes and be warm and snuggly this winter) These images are supplied by Audi Joburg Fashion Week, click here to go to the...
