Fashion Week: Paul van Zyl

I’m guessing that Paul van Zyl’s gowns are what millions of women (those who picture themselves in wedding dresses), dream about when they think about their ‘big day’. I guess what I’m saying is that I was finally tempted to picture myself in a wedding dress and it’s all because of Paul van Zyl- when those models came out in those gorgeous white pieces, I had the girly “oh how beautiful” thought.   He tied in a very important HIV/ AIDS and crime theme. A cape with a huge AIDS ribbon made up of little badges positioned the back of it made a very unsubtle statement about HIV/ AIDS. Just the amount of time it took to put the garment together is a contribution to positive messages about the disease. (It must have taken hours) Paul van Zyl’s wedding gowns and evening wear truly leave one gawking! Click here to see photos from the show. Fashion Week: Sun Goddess on fire!

Sun Goddess recently launched his and hers fragrances (Kumkani and Goddess) and everyone who attended their Audi Joburg Fashion Week show got to take one home (YAY!). Sun Goddess has definitely evolved since its inception and the show attendance was just proof of that! Vince was there…   The collection included beautiful evening wear and a ready-to-wear range comprising of skirts and dresses that redefined African Couture, classic combination of luxurious browns and chocolate colors as well gorgeous denim dresses with stunning bead finishing’s. The fabulous leather skirts and jackets added a different feel to the Sun Goddess look. Long luxurious beads, brown belts, bold clutch bag were a pleasant surprise and a great addition to this winter’s accessories. A standing ovation put a stamp of approval on the collection. Fashion Week: CGdT and KLuK’s Tea Party

With an opening act of the typical boy meets girl and falls in love scene from a romance movie CGdT and KLuK launched their winter range. The gallery was draped in white lace and the catwalk scattered with coloured autumn leaves, the models walked slowly with small garden umbrellas- it felt like a big tea party. At first the boy and girl are in love and then they fight leaving the boy begging for the girls attention and affection and at the end they get back together and (I assume) live happily ever after. The clothing? Well in true CGdT and KLuK fashion, it was long silky lacy dresses pleats and cute little floral dresses. Hmmm, I don’t know you decide, check out the pics. Fashion Week: Philosophy- Jungle meets City

North African prints, zebra stripped bags, leopard spots, tiger stripes and slick sexy dresses and wraps are pretty much what made up this show. If you are a guy that likes to wear floral pants and tight headgear then Jenni Button’s Philosophy range is for you. Truly, I thought it was quite creative in a very jungle meets the city kinda way! Jenni has recently opened her second store in the Caper Town’s dynamic V&A Waterfront and a spectacular lifestyle outlet is being planned in Johannesburg for later in 2007.
