Join this group in the name of love
Meet our lovelorn couple Tatiana and James, suffering from the realities of a long-distance relationship, they will do whatever it takes to bridge the distance and bring their worlds together so that they can be as one, at last…. But seriously, anyone that’s been in *long-distance* love understands just how tearfully hard separation can be and just how much time and money is invested in trying to bring your love together. We were recently introduced to the inventive couple on Facebook and were impressed with their cheeky approach at trying to be in the same space on Valentines day. They’ve started a group called Valentines Airlines in the hope that an airline will take pity on the lovers, see the huge PR value of making it happen, and offer them a free return flight. They need a shizer load of members to make it happen, so go on, even if you lived in Fourways and your partner in Alberton, share some love with long-distance lovers all over the world and join the Facebook group. In the name of love we implore you!
Valentine Airlines Facebook Group
We spoke to Tatiana to find out the whole sad story:
Two lovers pine for each other on opposite sides of the globe. This group is an endeavor at receiving a free return flight from an airline company in order to relieve us of our love-pangs of missingness over the Valentines period if we attain 10 000 members or more.
Join this group in the name of love… and tell all your friends!
Valentines Airlines is an idea we came up with last year. An attempt at creating enough noise about long distance love to encourage anyone who’s interested in helping us, to help. We need many more people to join and more importantly we need the public to be proactive in helping to get the idea to influential people. We need to make more of a noise about it. We’re working hard at finding contact details for Directors of the relevant airlines but I’m not convinced that they are the only people who could be interested. Ideally I’d like to speak with Richard Branson and or anyone who could gain from the publicity and who believes in such a simple and beautiful cause.
James and I met years ago as he was working at a Game Reserve as a Game Ranger with a friend of mine. We’d become good friends and kept in touch while I was working in Jo’burg and kept emails bouncing back and forth after I decided to leave South Africa in search of foreign adventure. I’ve lived in Barcelona for a year and a half now and in June last year James decided to come over for a visit. Sparks went flying and it’s been a rapid transformation from a beautiful friendship to an intense relationship. Obviously a substantial section of this love story is dependent on skype (for which we are super grateful..) and its becoming harder and harder for us to be apart.
I’m currently working at a small Communications Company in Barcelona called “The Love Comes” as a Graphic Designer and James is working at Londolozi Game Reserve as a Game Ranger while running his website rangerdiaries.com. We’re both not quite done yet with where we are and respect each other for it. I love this city and the magic it has to offer while I start a little project of my own and James is apreciating life in its purest form at the Reserve while modifying his site which is fully dependant on his natural environment. We’re hoping to finally be together in roughly a year’s time but in the meanwhile we’re craving occasional contact. Obviously Barcelona and Johannesburg are not next-door neighbours and it’s proving to be a bit of a financial challenge to see each other as often as we’d like to.
