SABC CHANDELIER

SABC CHANDELIER

Anyone that has had the pleasure of working in the SABC buildings will tell you that it is a strange place. I was given a tour a while back of the bomb-proof underground levels in radio park – damn… it’s like stepping back in time! Do not be scared of the mullet styled gargoyles skulking around in the shadows – some of them have worked there for over 20 years – they don’t bite!

The SABC was established in 1936 with the first radio service being launched – the English Service – very pooh pooh hockey sticks my dear – I can just imagine the accents.

It was originally called ‘the A Program’ and I can even remember my Gogo referring to it as that! My best place within the SABC is the foyer near the K1 auditorium – you know the one I mean – BLING BLING all over again – check out this amazing Chandelier.
