Each screening is a once-off event and admission is FREE! Film makers and media wannabes – get there!

FILM ONE –

THE TAKE
Written by Naomi Klein, author of bestselling book “No Lo…
go”; Directed by Avi Lewis

Monday 20th June at 5pm, Funda Centre, Diepkloof, Soweto
(Old Potch Road, past Bara, approx 2km further down on right behind BP garage)

The Take is a political thriller. In the wake of Argentina’s spectacular economic collapse in 2001, Latin America’s most prosperous middle class finds itself in a ghost town of abandoned factories and mass unemployment. In suburban Buenos Aires, thirty unemployed auto-parts workers walk into their idle factory, roll out sleeping mats and refuse to leave. All they want is to re-start the silent machines. But this simple act the take has the power to turn the globalization debate on its head.

Meet Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis in Soweto at this screening!!

And the second film…

WEAPONS OF MASS DECEPTION
Directed by Danny Schechter

Saturday 25th June at 6pm, Museum Africa, Newtown
There may have been no Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, but there were media Weapons of Mass Deception. “A comprehensive and devastating critique of the TV news networks’ complacency and complicity in the war on Iraq… brilliantly argued and scrupulously documented… a must see” — Chicago Reader “More cohesive and devastating than Fahrenheit 911” — Boston Phoenix
