Kora All-Africa Music Awards has confirmed that hip-hop icon Missy Elliot will be performing at the Kora Festival on December 2nd, at the ABSA Stadium. The artist, who is as renowned for her own compositions as for the production skills she’s displayed on other artists music, will deliver her trademark dynamite performances during the Kora Festival, and will feature at the Kora All Africa Music Awards on December 4th.
The KORA all-Africa Music Awards & Festival, which is being held to commemorate the KORA all-Africa Music Awards 10th anniversary, is being held in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal for the first time.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Missy Elliot to South Africa for the first time to celebrate with us at Kora 10” enthuses Ernest Adjovi, executive producer of the KORA all-Africa Music Awards and Festival. “The Kora Festival will offer African entertainment in a way that’s never been seen before in South Africa,
Fittingly, the entire Kora Awards ceremony is being screened live on SABC1, ensuring that music lovers nationwide will be able to watch Africa’s finest being awarded for their musical achievements.
“As a broadcaster, SABC is very focussed on the celebration and upliftment of musical talent from South Africa and beyond, and we take our role as the Kora Awards broadcasting channel very seriously”, comments Ray Nkwe, channel head of SABC1. “SABC1 has a number of programme offerings that fulfil this mandate, and we are thrilled to be able to bring the worlds only African Music Awards Ceremony to our viewers live and direct – we trust all eyes will be on us, watching Africa’s finest do what they do best!”
A Kora Commemorative Special and the opening ceremony will be broadcast on December 1st on SABC 1 at 22h00, and the Kora Awards Ceremony live on December 4th at 20h00.

The exciting line-up of musicians from throughout Africa and beyond, from industry giants such as Papa Wemba and Mbilia Bel, to our own Ringo Madlingozi and Lebo Mathosa, as well as international stars such as Missy Elliot and Shaggy, makes Kwa-Zulu Natal the place to be this December.”
Tickets for the Kora Festival and the Kora All-Africa Music Awards will be available from Computicket from November 8th.
