MUNT’AI – take a trip into the heart of the Indian community

Now you know that we love to do whatever we can to grow the Represent*ZA revolution and it’s people and the love we have for each other.

One of the cultures that we’d love to get to know better has to be the vibrant and fascinating Indian Community, largely based in the greater areas of Lenasia, Laudium and Forsdburg in Johannesburg… But you know us, we like to HOOK us up and make it ha…
ppen and all.

The guys from MUNT COMEDY have organised two nights of Comedy “Munt’ai” in the heart of Laudium and Lenasia for both the local residents and cool people like you.

All you have to do is choose the show that you want to go to and then buy your ticket from Computicket for only R95. (Tickets are limited!) The comedy features Riaad Moosa – one of the hottest talents out there as well as a whole lotta other funny and brilliant comedians. Believe us guys, we saw Riaad at the Loeries, he ROCKS!

But we know not everyone knows their way around this crazy city and surrounds, so we’ve made a deal and all for Represent readers and friends that may get lost.
For R30 only you get to park your car safely in Norwood and get driven in booming taxi shuttles to and from the Comedy Evening. So much of easy.
Just EMAIL muntai@represent.co.za to book your seat in a taxi – hurry up, places are limited! Please tell everyone that you know that would love an evening in the heart of the Indian Community – come on Representers, let’s share who we are with each other and have a good lag while doing it.

Here’s the lowdown on the project:
Munt Comedy is a brand owned by young South Africans who have an extensive connection to South African Comedy. The owners of Munt Comedy have been involved in the latest ground breaking comedy shows in South Africa like, The Pure Monate Show on SABC 1, Laugh out Loud on Mnet and an abundance of big production live comedy shows locally and abroad.

Munt comedy was formed to bring South African comedy to the people of South Africa. Although there are some big shows done in central venues like the Sandton convention Centre, Civic and Market Theatre etc, there is no smaller scale comedy that concentrates on giving entertainment to the communities of SA. Munt Comedy was formed and designed to redress this problem. Although in its infancy Munt Comedy is the leading club comedy brand in Johannesburg.

MUNT’AI is a brand of Comedy that caters specifically for the Indian communities. The headliners and stars of the show consist mainly of Indian comedians. However in the tradition of Munt Comedy people must expect to get the unexpected!

The Show Features this time around:

Afzal Khan played lead role successful bollywood dance drama, “Chalo Cinema”, Durban; he had his film debut on M-Net’s EDIT Production, “Ms Fits”. He has performed comedy extensively in theatres around Kwazulu Natal. Afzal is currently working on the amazing stage production, “The Coolie Odyssey”. Afzal stands out as one of the greats of South African comedy.

Riaad Moosa has performed at various comedy festivals locally including “Laugh out Loud”, the largest stand-up show in the history South African television and overseas headlining at the “Edinburgh Fringe Festival”. Part of ground breaking the Pure Monate Show SABC 1.

Krijay Govender who was voted one of South Africa’s top Indian Women (Indigo Mag), Launched the Pure Monate Show (SABC 1) in Durban with David Kau, Hosted Miss India Worldwide for Sony Television (2 billion viewership), Presented, SABC’s Eastern Mosaic

The line up of comedians is extraordinary for any comedy show. It includes the following
LEEANDA REDDY (Scandal etv, actress)
RABIN (Big Brother and stand up comedian)
KASERAN PILLAY (Going Nowhere Slowly, SABC3)
AND a surprise act to round up an entertaining evening!
