Sexy Bangkok Hilton in Cape Town

Thanks to Danny in Cape Town aka Slaapstad for letting us know that the city is certainly not slaaping… Check out this sexy monthly clubnight called Bangkok Hilton in Cape Town…there’s a nice twist of live film and video kicking off the night. “Arpegiated moog bass lines.” Sounds delicious. Love the flyer. CT you know style.

Here’s the word from Danny”
“The club was born o…
ut of an obsession with late 70’s and 80’s club culture – but this isn’t an 80’s club at all. The late days of disco – when the Italian and German producers discovered synths and drum machines and the early days of house produced produced some amazing tracks – that are being used by producers such as Felix da Housecat, Tiga, DJ Hell, Blackstrobe etc as the inspiration for the latest batch of new wave house. This night mixes
up the two sounds along with whatever other party music is tickling the djs. We also start off each night with a collection of short films/video odditys.”

DJs:
Danny Berlin (Computer Blue/333 club, London)
DJ Crockett

Neon-lit electro disco mixing the sound of eighties NY club culture (think Giorgio Moroder, Bobby O, Talking Heads and Prince) with the new wave of dance from the likes of Tiga, the DFA and Soulwax.

Bangkok Hilton is about the sound of disco fresh out of an early eighties art school, packing its bags and heading off to Rimini for the summer. This is about the sound of electro disco. This is about Giorgio Moroder and Patrick Cowley banging out arpegiated moog bass lines and Prophet V keyboard solos. It’s about Cerrone’s Supernature. It’s about the early house music of the Danceteria and the Music Box. It’s about Madonna stalking nightclubs in
1984 looking for hot producers.
