Robbie Rocked the house
So the reports are pouring in, Robbie gave the audiences what they were looking for. He was smooth, charming, somewhat cheesy and super slick. From the reports we received it sounds like cheesy seems to have dominated as he seduced the crowds with his ‘wit’ and ‘sexy remarks.’ Gulp. Good to know that there are still artists out there that get grown women acting like screaming lovesick teens.
…
Sadly Represent didn’t make it despite keeping you informed with all media reports and releases – yet again the organisers claim “NO MEDIA PASSES.” Haven’t we heard that before?
So we sadly have to get our concert report from other sources, but in this case it’s the very reliable and fantastic Mail and Guardian. Please click here for the full story, but here’s the intro:
“As the moon rose over Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria last night, 60 000 heads bopped to the beat and twice as many hands were flung in the air. Robbie Williams closed the South African leg of his world tour with fireworks and a matching bang, thanking the crowd on his knees for turning up en masse. “Baie dankie,” he shouted to the explosive cheering and clapping.
Taking after his comedian father, Williams entertained the crowd with witty one-liners, imitations of Michael Jackson, and of a horny giraffe. He also had the stadium have a go at the world’s largest simultaneous burping session. “I bet they heard that miles away!”
The cheeky singer treated the fans, some of whom had been waiting for six hours, to new songs from his Intensive Care album, such as Sin Sin Sin and Advertising Space as well as to older chart toppers like Rock DJ, Feel – “I did that whole cowboy thing before Brokeback Mountain!”- and Angels. Williams even sang Take That’s Back for Good and wished his former band mates the best of luck with their recent reunion. “But without me it’s just not the same. Not Take That but more like … Ake That.”
Dressed in jeans, sneakers, and a black long-line blazer, Williams wowed Pretoria with his raunchy charm. “If I’ll shag you? Sure, come find me after the show,” he said to fans holding a banner before running across the stage to have a closer look at a girl baring her breasts. “Please do that again love,” and then, turning to the African sky, laughing: “Thank you for making your women so accessible.”

UPDATE
YIP – if you didn’t get your tickets, it’s too late – Robbie Williams is sold out!
The number of closet fans we have come across in the last few weeks has been unbelievable – this man has a LOT of fans… you know who you are, we hope you got your hands on some tickets. Strangely the organisers, Big Concerts, tells us that there are no ‘Media tickets’ so we won’t be able to go or report on it – mhhh – you’ll have to fill us in!
Here’s the story from ‘The Robbie Williams’ site:
On Saturday morning, tickets for the star’s Cape Town performance at Green Point Stadium flew from booking offices and in five hours all 30 000 were gone.
Pretoria is also sold out, but there are still some tickets left for the Durban show.
Williams will perform in the city on April 13, launching a worldwide tour for his latest album, Intensive Care.
The tickets sold out faster than both Bon Jovi’s and U2’s Cape Town shows.
The cheapest were seated ones available for R197, but standing-room tickets set fans back R322 and golden circle tickets were a whopping R527.
Some fans spent part of the night outside the Computicket box office at the V&A Waterfront and others queued for hours at Computicket outlets across the Peninsula.
After unsuccessful attempts to get on to the Computicket website, a Noordhoek resident, who did not wish to be named, queued at Computicket in the Blue Route mall for about two hours to get six tickets.
“There were about 200 people there already. When I got to the counter, the only ones that were available were standing-room ones for R322 each,” she said.
The fan did not mind spending that much on a concert. “I would have paid anything. After standing there for so long I was not going to leave without them.”
She said she had met a Tyger Valley resident who had been standing in a long queue at Canal Walk then decided to try somewhere else.
Radio 5fm’s Kevin Fine, who broadcast his Rise ‘n Fine breakfast show live from the Waterfront, said: “When we got there just before 6am, there were about 1 000 people lined up already. They had been camping out. Some had camp chairs and blankets and duvets.”

Robbie will be performing songs from his latest album, Intensive Care, as well as a selection of hits from his previous multi-platinum selling albums. Intensive Care was released only a few weeks ago, went GOLD on the day of its release, and is already climbing the local charts!
The wickedly handsome and incredibly talented Brit jumped into the audience at the 2005 MTV Europe Awards, during the performance of his latest hit “Tripping”, before (unsurprisingly!) walking away with the coveted “Best Male” Award.
Robbie Williams signed one of the biggest record deals of all time, and is now heading to South Africa to give us one of the most highly anticipated performances of our time!
