Japanese band FUNKIST touriing in KZN

It’s a rare thing to hear about a person with a mix of South African and Japanese heritage, it’s even more rare to hear of a funky bunch of Japanese musicians touring in Kwazulu Natal – go get ’em!

FUNKIST is a Japanese alternate pop band with a jazz groove. As a 7-piece band utilising traditional and non-traditional instruments, their sound is abundant with culture and immensely…
exciting.

FUNKIST’s music is written by Saigoh who was born in Tokyo of Japanese and South African parents. From a young age, he was faced with racial discrimination and prejudice that made him extremely aware of intense yet conflicting emotions; peace, love, tolerance, hatred, and violence. The music draws his audience into a painful world revolving around a sun of hope.

FUNKIST is an original band delivering special music. Join us!
