Varsity Students – Are you a bright young mind?
The prestigious search is on for South Africa’s brightest, most dynamic and passionate students who want the all expenses paid networking opportunity of a lifetime. Brightest Young Minds (BYM) have announced the launch of the exciting 2006 search among South Africa’s top 14 universities for the country’s 100 most talented students.
BYM, a University of Stellenbosch initiative linked to AIESEC International, bridges the often inaccessible or daunting gap between university life and the corporate world, for final year and post-graduate students who display exceptional abilities.
BYM President, Christine Strutt comments, “South Africa is a country burgeoning with new talent – it’s an incredibly exciting place to be. Brightest Young Minds seeks to promote and nurture exceptional students through enviable networking opportunities with some of South Africa’s most successful companies and prolific personalities.”
Now in its seventh year, BYM seeks to create a platform that showcases the talent of South Africa’s future leaders, while providing an incredible opportunity for them to be exposed to, challenged and inspired by some of the country’s current visionaries, humanitarians and business icons.
The BYM conference attracts speakers from the cream of the business world. Previous mentors include Finance Minister, Trevor Manuel, founder and Executive Chairman of Master Currency, Zitulele ‘KK’ Combi, and CEO of the International Marketing Council, Yvonne Johnston.
BYM does not only focus on academic excellence, but selects delegates according to the criteria of leadership, initiative, passion and drive. “South Africa’s future business leaders and decision-makers need to be so much more then simply academically gifted. So the opportunity to become a 2006 BYM and change your life forever is open to all, not just outstanding intellectuals,” says Strutt.
The 100 extraordinary new BYM recruits, chosen through a rigorous selection process from thousands of entries, will be invited to attend the prestigious, all-expenses paid, seventh annual BYM conference. The conference, scheduled to take place from 2 to 9 July 2006 in Johannesburg, has this year secured corporate support from BHP Billiton, Cashbuild, Sanlam and Vodacom.
Strutt continues, “Brightest Young Minds believe they will facilitate the transfer of invaluable professional knowledge from business icons to students, thereby increasing students’ confidence and enabling them to discover their passions and become SA’s future entrepreneurs and captains of industry.”
