SA creatives clean up the Young Guns!!!
elelelelelele (Sound of Editorista ululating) Congratulations to our creatives for proving yet again that South African advertising is at the top of it’s game and that our local talent is outstanding. Two of our entries got special mention and awards – click here for all the results:
“The first ever Jury Chairman’s Choice Award goes to “Po…
wer” in Outdoor Supersites and Spectaculars created by Brad Reilly and Jonathan Santana of Net#Work BBDO, South Africa for NedBank. A billboard with solar power panels generating electricity to power
the local primary school as part of the idea.
The jury also requested a special mention be made of the Gold Bullet in Direct Mail (Public & Community Service) ‘Pirated DVD’ by Darren Borrino, Jason Kempen & Johnathan Smith of TBWAHuntLascaris, South Africa. This idea was in contention for YoungGun of the Year Award and caused much deliberation.”

Be named “YoungGun of the Year” and win US$20,000 to celebrate.
As an YGAward Winner and Finalist your work will be showcased on our site, appear in the YGAward annual and form the YG Traveling Exhibition (Sydney, Auckland, Singapore, Honk Kong, Johannesburg, London, New York, and LA). It is “Worth the Pain” to get your talent seen all over the world by your peers, creative directors and potential employers.
Who can enter YGAward:

– Teams are eligible if one member is born after November 17, 1975. Only this person will be awarded, but all team members will be credited.
Creative Briefs
The YGAward 2006 Creative Brief is set by PETA – (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). PETA has more than a million members and supporters, is the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.
PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry.
It is an excellent brief and besides some cool Apple hardware as a prize, PETA will use the idea as well as feature it for a week on their website – www.peta.org
So download it, submit your ideas before October 13 2006 and make a difference.
Entry is FREE and enter as many ideas as your brilliant minds can come up with. We are only interested in the idea, not the execution at this stage. The winning ad will be produced.
If you have any questions, please send an email

May 2006
The YoungGun awards are, according to their website, the only GLOBAL advertising awards that recognise creative excellence in creatives UNDER THE AGE OF 30. That’s right, you have to be under 30 but you can come from anywhere in the world!!!
This year’s entries will be opening in July and closing in September, so come on SA Creatives let’s clean up this year! Make sure you’re not older than 30 though.
Each year there is a CREATIVE BRIEF that calls for content specific entries. This year it’s sponsorsed by PETA:
