Wssup Representers? Welcome Back!
We’re finally back from the holidays and as you can see Represent is looking as slick as ever with a brand new supafly look. We’re entering into the New Year with some serious attitude!
With the new look comes a bit of a shifting of the furniture too, so there are a few changes that we’d like to share with you all.
Topping the list is that our much loved Editorista and creator of Represent has appointed a new Editor to take us to the next level (that’s me).
Editorista will now be the Editor-in-chief of Represent -she leaves a huge pair of shoes to fill. She’s still on the prowl in Jozi though, so watch this space… SHARPILE!
Thanks also to Aquoibon, the man behind the original fabulara Represent design that has set our bar so high… he won’t be far away either.
Next are the different elements that are now a part of Represent; if you look on the right of the home page you will see that our Categories are still there but some of them have different names, keep tabs of the categories because if you miss anything on the front page, you can always look for it in there. e.g: an article that had something to do with music would be found in the category “Musique”, easy ne?
If you look below Links you will see a “Flickr” image – this is a link to our Flickr community where you can click on to check out the latest Represent pictures – you might just find yourself in one of those!
And click on “Videos” right below that for our YouTube Represent community to have a skwizz at the funkiest, cutest, funniest, weirdest or whateverest video clips from all over the place. (we’re still uploading our vid’s – please bear with us!)
The Editor’s Top 10 is on the header bar at the top of the site. It’s all about what I think are the Top Ten things of the moment – take note I’m no style guru so I’m not going to try and predict the latest or upcoming fashion fad, but nonetheless it will be interesting- the first Top Ten is all about… yep you guessed it, the New Year!
Our ‘look and feel’ will be changing every now and then as we invite designers that we love to design our wallpaper… we start the year with this awesome background from Mzwandile of Pinartbutter – see the interview with him here.
And many many thanks to the team who have spent the last few months reinventing Represent, especially Cape Town boy Mark who put the final site together via virtual meetings from his base in London – we never spoke to him or saw him once – Mark you outdid yourself.
Now that the formalities are out of the way, I thought we should start the year off in holiday mode; everyone is still in holiday mode anyway, right? So we got a few people to write to us about their holidays- sort of first day back at primary school vibes, so from Ghana to New York check out what our Representers were up to. Thanks so much to all our citizen journalists for doing their duties as Representer’s, check out some of their holiday pictures too on our Flickr site!
I’m in the mood for celebrations and happiness, as part of our super duper new look festivities we are giving away an amazing trip for two to Mozambique courtesy of Represent and Kamp Kweru, 4 copies of Morafe’s new album (Aene: The Revelation) with 2 groovy Morafe t- shirts, 5 Double Tickets to the Edgars Music Series Bash at the Bassline on 02 February 2007 and believe it or not a cute sex toy for the ladies from For Women Only!
All you have to do is be a part of our world by subscribing to Represent (if haven’t done so already) and all you have to do if you want to win any of the above prizes is email me at editor@represent.co.za, say what you are interested in winning, give us your personal and contact details (you can enter each competition – but one email per competition please) and we’ll see what happens…
Represent belongs to all of you so if you ever feel like dropping me a mail about something interesting you might have done or are busy doing, then please do that. Also send me video clips, your fantastic artwork or pictures, a story or your thoughts on the blog.
So my people, to the most beautiful year that there has ever been!
Much love, peace and happiness
