eatre production of The Sound of Music composed by Rodgers and Hammerstein. This brand new staging will be directed by well loved theatre director and actor Ralph Lawson and includes the KZNPO. Successful applicants will be required for rehearsals in Durban from mid-November 2005. The season will run throughout December 2005.
Roles to be cast include: Maria Rainer; Captain Georg von Trapp; The Mother Abbess; Sister Sophia/ Berthe/ Margrita; Franz, the butler; Rolf, a dashing young man; Liesl, a young woman (eldest daughter of Capt. von Trapp); Frau Schmidt, the housekeeper; Chorus members: nuns / party guests/ soldiers.
Auditions will take place from 9h00 – 15h00 at The Playhouse Company on 11 and 12 June 2005.
Full time professional actors are required to prepare a monologue of no longer than 2 minutes and a song from the musical. Previous acting and professional singing experience is essential. Actors are required to provide a one page short CV and full length photograph. Own sheet music to be provided at the rehearsal.
