Represent! BearExpressions aka PhuzaFace
We’ve been waiting for the pics before we told you all about this… One of the highlights of the Design Indaba was an exhibition stall run by the FANTASTIC contemporary culture magazine One Small Seed in collaboration with One League – they did a little experiential campaign where the public were invited (at 9am I tell you!) to have a shot of Russian Bear vodka. You had to enter a little photobooth and sit down – as you took your sip and more than likely grimaced, they took a photo of your phuzaface (Phuza means DRINK in ZULU et al). The phuzafaces were then all photoshopped into mock covers of One Small Seed and the campaign is titled BearExpressions – see here – I believe the winning photo will be used as an actual cover of the next edition of One Small Seed which we await with bated breathe for. NICE ONE! The pics are well worth looking at – it’s a wonderful portrait of all kinds of South African’s hanging out at the Design Indaba. Keep up the great work ONE SMALL SEED! We will hopefully have an interview with Giuseppe Russo the man behind ONE SMALL SEED soonest – for now, know that it’s so worth buying – you can get them at odd places like Musica or DVD shops! Check out the website for distribution here.. Represent certainly...
Represent Recommends: DECOI
For all the lady shoe lovers in Jozi, if you haven’t got your hands on a pair of DECOI shoes yet, you’ve got to find the funk! And maybe the cash ‘coz they aint chipile… Real leather all the way from South America darlings. Editorista got two pairs for her bday and has been rockin’ em since with compliments flying in from all directions. But she’s probably going to have to go back for new ones soon ‘cos she just can’t take them off. DECOI reminds us a bit of Muji and Uniqlo (see our Tokyo article here) simple classic and ‘must-have’… so if you’re looking for some sexy ladybug shoes that you can wear to work or play, DECOI is the secret. The shop seems a little shy from outside and it’s location is odd although well placed! It’s right near the main entrance to Pick n Pay in the Rosebank Mall (photo’s courtesy Rosebank Mall website.) You may think the shoes are a little PLAIN at first glance… but try them on… they are so comfortable and they look great on most feet! They’re so less is more – the shop accepts credit cards so if you can’t afford the pricetag there are other options 😉 Here are the details although we didn’t have much luck looking at the winter range on the web: Telephone: (011) 447 3838 Fax (011) 683 2586 Cell phone 079 496 2696 E-mail address info@decoi.co.za Web address http://www.decoi.co.za...
We love you Katlego!
I watched an episode of Generations just the other day, and was talking about how talented Katlego Danke, who plays the role of Mrs. Dineo Mashaba on the soapie is, so it was shocking to hear that she had been attacked (stabbed n the forehead and robbed of her handbag) outside the SABC offices on Sunday. Now, as much as we don’t like to focus on crime here at Represent, we do focus on our talented local stars and ensuring that their achievements are always celebrated. So to Katlego and her family, friends and co workers at SA’s top soapie, Generations we would like to say we have Katlego in our thoughts and wish her a speedy recovery. Katlego obtained her BA degree in Theatre and Performing from UCT. She has been involved in theatre productions such as Beyond The Veil, The House of Kalumba, The Town that was Mad, Based on ‘Under Milkwood’, Crimes of the Heart, Occupational Therapy Project, King Lear, The Suit, Miss Tertiary Feel, and the opera performance of Macbeth. Durban having it’s own mini-Tsunami!
This is where blogging, media sharing and citizen journalism gets interesting! Remember our holiday pics of Amanzimtoti (click here) taken in December. Our contacts in situ tell us that the current storms sweeping our east coast still have the heaviest assault yet to come – apparently the beach was totally covered at high tide with the water lapping towards the Supertube and the grass embankment. Once the waves subsided people were (over confidently) walking on the beach and were being washed away and having to get rescued … See our photo’s of the waves in Amazimtoti here. As our eye witness says: “It’s absolutely amazing, electrifying – I am standing here in my flat overlooking the beach just staring at the power and force of nature and it’s unbelievable – at one stage we couldn’t see the beach or swimming pool. The crowds are gathered. It’s so Interesting! At least it gives us something to do! But the looming destruction is scary. It’s the end of low tide now…the people are gathering….High tide is coming back. The main force is set for 4:15pm.” Check out the East Coast Radio Newsblog for photo’s videos and graphics of the storm, sea and damage here. It’s a must see! The hits are high though so you may have to be patient. Then a simple search for Durban on Flickr will reveal a load of photo’s showing the damage, the waves and the storm… click here we’ve done it for you. For now, send your thoughts towards Durban and our beautiful East Coast – let’s hope the destruction is minimal. Ooohhh I can feel a cool wind sweeping through my Jozi...
Warp a celeb and more fun!
Ladies, do you think Brad Pitt is HOT? Stupid question right? Well, guys if you wanna finally be able to show gals just how NOT HOT Brad can be, then you have to check this site out http://www.bored.com/warpcelebs/; here you get to warp all the celebs that have ever made you feel green with envy or if you’re not the envious type and you’re just looking for a good laugh or you’re just bored (which is what bored.com is all about) just click on the link and have yourself a wonderful time. Some of the other really quirky things you can get up to is destroying websites, all you do is put in the website address and then choose your style of weapon (from acid, bird poop, dust, muddy footprints, hammer, ink, kisses, landmines, snow, time bombs, tomatoes and even UFO’s) and ‘kapeesh’ it’s destroyed (It’s really fun) Fun Drawings is all about making a drawing of a tree, a house or a person and having it instantly analyzed to assess your personality. This one was not so cool but I guess if you believe in random personality tests, then you’ll like it. Bad Spelling is an online spelling test. This one is really fun because it tells you the averages of words that people spell incorrectly and it gives you an opportunity to see all those funny words that are really simple to spell that always trap you… loved it!
