Fashion Week: “Vukani Madoda Sekusile!”
Bold colours, vibrancy and Africanism were the main elements of the Vukani Fashions collection. Famous for the design of the “Madiba shirt” back in 1990 Sonwabile Ndamase has been making bold statements ever since. Also, you know those really hot sexy outfits that the SABC ‘Top Sport’ presenters wear? That’s Vukani! Vince checked out the show… The collection by Vukani was very bold with lots of blacks and whites in the beginning making up a collection that I would classify as office wear with a delicious twist. Playful but well designed men’s and women’s denim jackets got the crowd excited and hot polka dot dresses, jacket and skirt seemed to be the order of the day. This collection is a real beauty but definitely not for the faint hearted as you need a bit of boldness to pull some of these off! Colourful silk dresses with trails made a huge entry I just loved the green & white dress with Ndebele beads! Click here to see photos from the show. Fashion Week: Sun Goddess on fire!
Sun Goddess recently launched his and hers fragrances (Kumkani and Goddess) and everyone who attended their Audi Joburg Fashion Week show got to take one home (YAY!). Sun Goddess has definitely evolved since its inception and the show attendance was just proof of that! Vince was there… The collection included beautiful evening wear and a ready-to-wear range comprising of skirts and dresses that redefined African Couture, classic combination of luxurious browns and chocolate colors as well gorgeous denim dresses with stunning bead finishing’s. The fabulous leather skirts and jackets added a different feel to the Sun Goddess look. Long luxurious beads, brown belts, bold clutch bag were a pleasant surprise and a great addition to this winter’s accessories. A standing ovation put a stamp of approval on the collection. Fashion Week: Star Studded Audi Collections
The Audi Collections showcase was made up of a selection of designers who each showed some of their best garments from their ranges. The show was attended by several A lister’s including the first lady of SA; Mrs. Zanele Mbeki (who had photographers in a complete frenzy). The show was interesting because every designer had a celebrity to dress. Some designers had live performances by their chosen models, Zamajobe performed for Vukani Fashions, KB performed for Fundudzi and Unathi sang her heart out for Sun Goddess. Some of the designers took it a notch higher by creating original Audi gowns, so those Audi circles were used in some really exciting ways. Basetsana Kumalo (David Tlale), Ursula Stapelfeldt (Kluk), Nicole Fox, Edith Venter (Kobus Dipenaar), Yvonne Chaka Chaka (Hip Hop), Vanessa Carrera (Paul Van Zyl), Michelle Botes (Philosophy, Jenni Button), were some of the celebrity faces that strutted the catwalk. Fashion Week: CGdT and KLuK’s Tea Party
With an opening act of the typical boy meets girl and falls in love scene from a romance movie CGdT and KLuK launched their winter range. The gallery was draped in white lace and the catwalk scattered with coloured autumn leaves, the models walked slowly with small garden umbrellas- it felt like a big tea party. At first the boy and girl are in love and then they fight leaving the boy begging for the girls attention and affection and at the end they get back together and (I assume) live happily ever after. The clothing? Well in true CGdT and KLuK fashion, it was long silky lacy dresses pleats and cute little floral dresses. Hmmm, I don’t know you decide, check out the pics.
