Fashion Week: Philosophy- Jungle meets City

North African prints, zebra stripped bags, leopard spots, tiger stripes and slick sexy dresses and wraps are pretty much what made up this show. If you are a guy that likes to wear floral pants and tight headgear then Jenni Button’s Philosophy range is for you. Truly, I thought it was quite creative in a very jungle meets the city kinda way! Jenni has recently opened her second store in the Caper Town’s dynamic V&A Waterfront and a spectacular lifestyle outlet is being planned in Johannesburg for later in 2007. Fashion Week: Stoned Cherrie’s Majestic Divas!

Stoned Cherrie showcased a stunning range of garments from their chic winter range at the Audi Joburg Fashion Week last night. Divided into four and aptly themed: Independence, Courage, Passion and Abundance it looks like this winter is for the woman of substance! One of our citizen journo’s Vince found himself balled over by the range and this is what he had this to say… As the models glided across the stage with very apparent pizzazz I realized that every outfit in the Stoned Cherrie winter range is a must have! Bags, hats, Stoned Cherrie eye- wear, bold blue and gold accessories, a magnificent combination of cream leather skirts and knitted shoulder jackets had the audience literally gawking (I heard “oohs” and “aaahs”!) The stunning evening wear was just out of this world- presenting dust brown, dark chocolate, light blue and yellowish curry colours. This collection definitely ensures that all fabulous modern women have something to wear on a night out on the town! Click here to see photos from the show. Fashion Week: Spero Villioti

When you can have an entire marching band on stage playing the latest pop music on their trumpets and drums preceding the exhibition of your fashion range I think you know you have arrived- the band was so superb but certainly didn’t upstage the Spero Villioti winter range! Click here to see the show. Believe it or not the band played Mary J’s “Hands Up”, Gwen Stefani’s “Wind It Up” and my favorite track of the moment My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Parade” and upon their dramatic exit entered in true Spero Villioti glamour some of the most exquisite gowns! Definitely not colour shy the silky smooth flamingo style dresses flowed flawlessly from each elegant model- picture perfect! He shared the stage with his students who showcased the most beautiful detailed hats that would make tea party judges spin on their heads. The band, the dresses and the elegantly poised models all put together made the show a great success and it received a well deserved standing ovation! Click here to see photos of the show. Fashion Week: Funky Fundudzi

Vince, one of Represent’s fashion crazy citizen journo’s was hanging onto his seat when he found himself sitting next to a rather famous fellow fashionista at the Fundudzi show last night. Craig Jacobs dedicated his range to the late Lebo Mathosa and when the song “Free” began glaring out of the speakers the entire room had goose bumps.  Click here to see the range. When one of SA’s renowned trend setter and fashionista (Dion Chang) is sitting next to you in the front row at one of the hottest fashion events of the Joburg calendar you just know you are at the right place at just the right time! And then when the garments that follow are just so elegant and beautiful you can’t help but sit back and smile as your head moves from side to side with every new model entering the catwalk. The much anticipated show received a standing ovation and no one deserved it more, the Fundudzi collection is made up of lots of warm and fuzzy fabrics making winter more chic and knit-wear more glam! The most amazing hoodie woolen dresses, knitted multi coloured bracelets with pink ribbons hung off the arms of the models and only word I can find to describe the edgy jewelry is “winner!” Scarf’s, knitted rose necklaces and ever so glam leggings were a big part of the Fundudzi collection, and the edgy easy flowing evening wear complete with stockings added an interesting twist to the collection. All in all I think Craig Jacobs put on an excellent show and all of Joburg’s “A” list will or should agree, right – Dion? Click here to see photos from the show.
