A Star for a star – Madiba gets a ‘way out’ pressie
What do you give someone who already has everything he could ask for? Well if you’re creative and original, you name a star after them!! We now have a star (unofficially) named after Madiba… what’s next? A galaxy? If wordly treasures are no longer good enough, outer space will just have to do. Now the whole world can also look for Nelson Rholihlahla MandelaNG in the Southern Cross constellation. Ivan May, a former executive manager of the Nedbank group, and a well-known personality in society, bought the star, as well as a star for Graca Machel, over the internet through an American company called International Star Registry. The birthday parcel handed over to Madiba, includes a map of the universe and a booklet with directions on how to find one’s star. However, the star names are not scientifically recognised because the International Astronomical Union is the only scientific body that may approve a change in a star’s name....
Ladies -make sure you’re taking the right VITAMINS
There’s so much conflicting information on what vitamins and supplements a lady needs to take – we know we all need to take vitamin’s but when you get to those shelves and stare at the multitude of bottles and names, it can all get a bit confusing… So we asked REPRESENT’s favourite young funky doctor to clarify things for us ladies – she’s Dr Mo and she understands what we need – Read… on as she cuts to the chase and tells us exactly what vitamins to buy (this is aimed at women from 18 – 40): Nowadays we push our bodies to the limit – late nights, minimal sleep, up early, long hours at the office/studying and burning the candle at both ends… and you wonder why you come down with hectic flu every 6-8 weeks. As you all know there are so many brands and varieties of vitamins that you can buy out there, it can be daunting and you end up buying nothing! Here is a short, concise explanation for women of what vitamins to take each day. This is a general explanation for the public, if you suffer from any condition which does not permit you to take certain vitamins, consult your doctor first. Calcium, magnesium, vitamin D – take a combination of all three. Calcium needs vitamin D to be absorbed and Cal prevents the absorption of magnesium hence having to take all three. Most Cal brands have this combination together. The amount required is 1 000mg per day, to be taken just before bedtime. Ensure you drink lots of water. Vitamin B – Good for stress and fatigue. Take 2 every morning Vitamin C – Excellent anti oxidant and helps your immune system. Take about 1000mg to 2000mg everyday in the morning. If you fall sick take up to 4000mg a day. Spirulina – Helps with metabolism, anti-oxidant and helps your general health. Yes you can sometimes find a brand that has a multivitamin with all of the above but does the brand have the correct quantity of vitamins that you need? Combine your vitamins with healthy eating and routine exercise (2/3 times a week) Give it a try and after 1-2 months see how you feel. Thanks...

SUDOKU – an addictive way to pass the time
We first heard about SUDOKU from a friend that had just got back to Joburg from a visit to London – She had purchased a SUDOKU book as a gift – she mentioned that London was abuzz with this simple Japanese puzzle. On a recent visit to Londres we were delighted to find the phenomenon was indeed all over the place – pens out, heads bowed, Londonians bore ‘don’t disturb me I am co…ncentrating’ looks in every tube, train and bus. Intrigued, we gave SUDOKU a go and found it equally satisfying. It’s a great time-killer and not too much of a brain twister. It’s a brilliant stress reliever and gives ‘Puzzles’ a much-needed TREND injection. Before we explain SUDOKU we give you one piece of advice, while there are lots of tips and tricks on how to solve SUDOKU, try to find your own method, that’s half the fun. Our method turned out to be ‘the very long way round’ but kept us engrossed and entertained. Once we’d learn’t the tips, SUDOKU lost a bit of it’s charm. If, however, you prefer cutting to the chase, try this site for basic instructions. According to the Japanese copyright holders NIKOLI, SUDOKU originated in the States as a puzzle called ‘Number Place’ , but in 1984 some visionary Japanese puzzle peeps got hold of it and gave it an extra rapid below-the belt washaaaa kick, renaming it SUDOKU, which is an abbreviation of “Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru” …. which means ‘a single number’… or something like that. The rules are simple and all SUKOKU puzzles look like the picture above left, what makes SUDOKU a unique puzzle in Japan is that they are ‘hand-made’ , as opposed to computer-generated – someone actually sits and composes each puzzle! In Japan there should never be less than 25 empty squares if it’s authentic. Here’s the rule according to SUDOKU.com (where you can find loads of puzzles) : ” Fill in the grid so that every row, every column, and every 3×3 box contains the digits 1 through 9. ” GOOD LUCK!!!...
