Porn voyeurism – what a weird web we spin
The world of pornography is alive and kicking on the net – it’s a reality and one that most of us try to stay well away from. Speedy from Cape Town finds himself looking at the most bizarre of sites – it’s a surreal keyhole into the world of online voyeurism: PARENTAL GUIDANCE REQUIRED. REPRESENT DOES NOT PROMOTE NOR CONDONE PORN, IT IS THE CONCEPT OF THE SITE AND IT’…s UNIQUENESS THAT WE ARE DISCUSSING… SPEEDY: “I was in the middle of replying to an email I’d received by SMS – as you do… and while fingering the new menu on the funky D500 Samsung “eat-walk-play-Bob Marley MP3s-but-no-dishes-please” phone, I got an Instant message pop up on my laptop. It was my SKYPE ACCOUNT, another MSN messenger but with free internet voice phone. It rocks. (SKYPE is a revolutionary online telephone system that many people use instead of Telkom. You can contact anyone – as long as both parties have Skype on their PC, anywhere in the world and it works, you can chat for free.. I save a fortune on calls to the UK and USA. Oh.. and you can also buy a UK number 0207 3434 7834 and when people call you on it,.. it dials your PC!!) [Thanks for that lead BRU! Ed] So hang on… did u get that – with Skype you can call a landline in UK, pay local rates and get hold of a South African u need to speak to. (u can get hold of them wherever they are in the world ? ) FREE with voice mail nogal. !! Madness man. Madness. Annnnnyways.. ) Back to skype – the pop up says: Piet : 18:20pm Bored ? http://www.livejasmin.com/ check out these webcams bru.. “Ag no man”, I think… but I click anyway. WOW. What a strange mind-numbing concept and experience… I won’t actually go into LIVEJASMIN too much – that would be illegal – you need to see it for yourself – but it’s women, men and anything goes, all over the world – It’s a live on-cam PEEPSHOW using home webcams that beam intimate performances from ‘actors’ all over the world… the tag here is that you pay for a private one on one “session”. Curtains closed and alles.. This quite simply is Amsterdam’s Red light district, on-line. And from the looks of things it’s very popular. But how come it’s so popular – isn’t this sort of thing a bit seedy – especially if you get found out? [Ed asks in a rather shocked voice?] Not according to Speedy – he psychoanalyses Jasmin’s premise: Today, SMS, live webcams,...

SUE PAM GRANT moves to CT and DURBAN
Simplicity miss petite size 8mp the Art Exhibition by well known Joburg Playwrite, actress and Director Sue Pam Grant is en route to the sea… Make sure not to miss it! For a review – check out what Noxyrsox had to say: One gets a warm, blurry feeling looking at the digital photo prints – kind of like the feeling you get watching the clouds shape themselves int…o dragons whilst you lie by the pool on warm, summer afternoon. They are soft, personal and strikingly beautiful for their simplicity. Grant documents daily domesticity, taking photos of basins, jugs, a single tea towel and also includes shots of her two young children. The enlarged photos are then over-printed with dress-making patterns from the 50’s and create a sub-text and texture that is refreshingly different and intriguing. I immediately thought of the phrase, ‘patterns of life’ and similarly, Grant describes the over-prints as ‘layers’ which one peels away to reveal the meaning and ‘memories’ embedded in an object which create and shape one’s experiences. She goes on to say, ‘I cut, segment and divide a living moment&and then sew the fragments back together to create a new present.’ I respect her boldness and love the honesty of the work. It’s a new form of minimalism and represents, for me, how a single, mundane object, image or gaze of a child creates memory upon memory which we patch together in an attempt to draw meaning from our individual lives. Definitely worth a visit so check it out....
BRAAMFONTEIN AKA METRO CENTRAL WED NIGHT
It seems that the REVIVAL of Braamies is finally happening! Two recent openings of two very different kinda projects by two very similar kind of people… Let me explain. A group of intrepid visual artists, Donovan Pugh, Andrea Moys and Ross Drakes have just kicked off the conceptual phase of what looks to be an awesome venue called ME…TRO LAB. They’re a strategic collective of creatives, that have taken over a space on the corner of JUTA and JAN SMUTS avenue in Brammfotein where they plan on showcasing a whole lot of digital art, animation and graphic design to the sounds of a big music system in a space created by visionary artists – This is their first phase which they like to call the CONCEPTUAL phase and they’re inviting people to the launch of the project on Wednesday 16th March. It’s a chance to network, meet people, get support and spread the love. The venue is still very rough, industrial with an underground feel – but there’s a cash bar available. WE LOVE THAT! We have 2 pairs of tickets to give away so get email the EDITISTA if you want them! Then there’s the fabulous artist ANDREW BANNISTER, who made his home in Braamies a long time ago – you may have seen some of his work in the CELL C in the city campaign… He has just opened a new HOTEL in Braamfontein called METRO – I don’t have much more infor yet but we’re going to check it our tomorrow – WILL UPDATE THIS SPOT!!! Mhhhm it gets more and more interesting!!!...
