Rand Show 2007, Bring Everyone!

The Rand Show opens for the 112th time on from Friday 30 March to Sunday 15 April 2007 at 10:00am to 20:00pm every day. Even though we will be missing out on the tradition of the Metro and YFM concerts, which were always such a big draw card, there will be so much more entertainment for everyone such as the Bollywood Festival, Fat Foot Monster Truck show, Rodeo Clowns and the YFM Lifestyle Zone  This year’s theme is Bring Everyone featuring two hilarious television commercials; remember that show Crossing Over with John Edward and the proverbial SA traffic cop trying to catch people with his camera but in the ads there is no one in John’s audience and no one to catch on the roads of Jozi- Where is everyone? At the Rand Show (look out for them, they are truly hilarious!) Something Representers might just be interested in is the YFM Lifestyle Zone. It’s a melting pot of extreme sports, music, art and fashion. There will be an action- packed line- up of events, activities and workshops. Also one of the more exciting events that will be taking place this year is the ‘Masters of the Beat’ concert taking place on Saturday, 31 March 2007 from 14h00- 20h00 (main arena – Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec) it will feature a bumper-packed line-up of top performing artists such as: Tasha Baxter Obita Jozi Sliquor Skwatta Kamp Prokid Dirty Skirts Parlatones Springbok Nude Girls DJ Reddy D DJ Dino Moran DJ Ryan Dent Entrance will cost adults R45, children under 12, R25, children under age two free on all days, senior citizens over 60 with valid ID free on all days and secure parking is available for R15 per vehicle. Represent Recommends: DECOI

For all the lady shoe lovers in Jozi, if you haven’t got your hands on a pair of DECOI shoes yet, you’ve got to find the funk!  And maybe the cash ‘coz they aint chipile… Real leather all the way from South America darlings.  Editorista got two pairs for her bday and has been rockin’ em since with compliments flying in from all directions.  But she’s probably going to have to go back for new ones soon ‘cos she just can’t take them off.  DECOI reminds us a bit of Muji and Uniqlo (see our Tokyo article here) simple classic and ‘must-have’… so if you’re looking for some sexy ladybug shoes that you can wear to work or play, DECOI is the secret.  The shop seems a little shy from outside and it’s location is odd although well placed! It’s right near the main entrance to Pick n Pay in the Rosebank Mall (photo’s courtesy Rosebank Mall website.)  You may think the shoes are a little PLAIN at first glance… but try them on… they are so comfortable and they look great on most feet!  They’re so less is more – the shop accepts credit cards so if you can’t afford the pricetag there are other options 😉  Here are the details although we didn’t have much luck looking at the winter range on the web: Telephone: (011) 447 3838 Fax (011) 683 2586 Cell phone 079 496 2696 E-mail address info@decoi.co.za Web address http://www.decoi.co.za...

Online craze – incredible beatboxing

Further to our article last week on the phenomenal French beatboxer Joseph, we have a whole load more unbelievable beatboxing for you to lap up on a lazy Friday pm…. the world is going crazy over beatboxing and YouTube is the medium. First off we’re actually going to start with a group of (very hot!) acapella singers from New York called Naturally7 who perform entire songs with only the human voice.  They were in Paris recently and caused a huge stir on the metro when they broke into song or as the French say performed a “concert sauvage” – see the YouTube video below… if you watch the public around them, initially everyone is a little uncomfortable and then they get into it!  Check out their MySpace site here where they performed with Lionel Richie..inspiring.   What’s amazing about these guys is not only the fact they can sing and beatbox at once, but how well they manage to sing and even more than that how brilliantly they do it – you can’t believe it’s just their voices.  Then there’s “Roxorloops” – “The hottest beat boxer in Belgium” see him performing in the French Beatboxing Champs here.  Incredible. Well worth it. Talking of French Beatboxing, some of you may be familiar with France’s awesome HipHop band Saian Supa Crew one of Represent’s mosfave French artists…here we see “Sly the Mic Buddha” from Saian beatboxing with a guy called Qbert – awesome if you’re into scratching and beatboxing. Click here. *MUST SEE* A Represent reader reckons “Beardyman” is the shizzle – we featured him and his kitchen cooking before on Represent over here but here is a link to him at his best. And last but certainly not least, the nerdiest looking beatboxer ever from the UK Faith SFX watch him here – love the UK accent!!! BRUVA! Enjoy…. share your mosfave beatboxers with us here! *****************************************Merci to Aquoibon for the lead… If you’ve been watching West African idols or American idols you’ll know just how much unbelievable talent there is out there.  This dude has to take the cake though – he’s a French guy called Joseph who is 21 years old and whose ability to beatbox and sing at the same time is blowing the world up!  See his French idols – or NOUVELLE STAR as it’s known in French – audition here on YouTube. MON DIEU! Incroyable!...
