Is it the bustling musical rhythm of the city, or the metropolitan mix of people, who connect through their similarity and diversity? Melville encapsulates this cosmopolitan feeling. This Joburg Arts Alive initiative, offers the perfect environment to showcase both established and emerging rock bands. Jozi Rocks transforms Melville into a musical extravaganza, with the Roxy Rhythm Bar, Trancesky, Tokyo Star and Samba, hosting different styles of the rock genre. “Unplugged on 7th” will be the VIP area where muso’s, press and other celebrities can hang out with the bands and catch their breath between performances. The evening is set to be a fusion of some of the best established names in rock, with the best of the underground and emerging stars on the Joburg circuit. For just R60.00, punters will be able to see Prime Circle, Arno Carstens, The Parlotones, MXO, Fuzigish, Fly Paper Jet, Peep Show, The New Academics, Airship Orange, Greenhouseffect, The Diesel Whores and Martin Rocka and The Sick Shop. The first band will start at 9 o’ clock and the start times in the different venues will be staggered to allow guests to move from one venue to the next to catch their favourite acts. Tickets will include a full line-up of band times and venues, so that guests know what’s happening and where. ZAMA JOBE nominated for MTV Europe award

Soweto finally gets it’s own beach, sea and fun!
UPDATE So after a long warm-up, it’s that time at last – the Spiced Gold Summer Beach party on the 5th and 6th November in Orlando, Soweto as the Power Park dam gets transformed into a beach environmet -check it out: You know it’s going to be bikinis and beach sand when the sea comes to Soweto on the 5th and 6th of November. So grab the sun block and cancel the rest of your week…end, because the Spiced Gold Summer Spice Beach Party is taking over Power Park Dam in Orlando, and the heat’s going to hit way past boiling point. And it’s not just about the tonnes of beach sand, a range of taverns and activities like beach volleyball and soccer. The main attractions are going to be the medley of musicians who will be ensuring that the crowds get over 24 hours of music over the two-day party. These are the guys and gals who’ll be turning up the vibes, bringing on the moves and setting the sand flying as they blast out their eclectic range of pure African beats. The heat is on. The volume is up. Here’s who’s going to make sure that the party is official. Kicking off on Saturday are some of Mzansi’s top live acts and most popular DJ’s. SAMA award winning trio Malaika are on the bill, livening things up with their universally funky Afro sound. The seventh show in the Edgars Music Series of concerts takes place on Friday 4 November at the Bassline in Newtown. This month, 5 Fm is the media partner on the show, and the line-up reflects the youth culture orientation of the station, incorporating rock, fu…nk, pop and afro artists on stage together. This month’s line up sees Prime Circle joined by The Parlatones and Tumi and The Volume.
