Fashion Week: Star Studded Audi Collections
The Audi Collections showcase was made up of a selection of designers who each showed some of their best garments from their ranges. The show was attended by several A lister’s including the first lady of SA; Mrs. Zanele Mbeki (who had photographers in a complete frenzy). The show was interesting because every designer had a celebrity to dress. Some designers had live performances by their chosen models, Zamajobe performed for Vukani Fashions, KB performed for Fundudzi and Unathi sang her heart out for Sun Goddess. Some of the designers took it a notch higher by creating original Audi gowns, so those Audi circles were used in some really exciting ways. Basetsana Kumalo (David Tlale), Ursula Stapelfeldt (Kluk), Nicole Fox, Edith Venter (Kobus Dipenaar), Yvonne Chaka Chaka (Hip Hop), Vanessa Carrera (Paul Van Zyl), Michelle Botes (Philosophy, Jenni Button), were some of the celebrity faces that strutted the catwalk. 3 HOT reasons to log onto Represent, every day!
I had serious Ed’s Top Ten writer’s block until I watched ‘The Holiday’ recently, (wanted to see Blood Diamonds, but I was at one of those granny malls that only have a certain selection of movies). Anyway, tis the month of love and I thought the top ten should be about romance… I’m sharing some of my favourite romance movies with all of you. Click here to go to my top 10. The headline of this week’s letter is very serious. Listen up this is a public service announcement: Log onto Represent, every single day! Why? You to ask. Well, I have the reasons all laid out for you… Reason 1: Represent is now updated every single day, yes every single day and that means unless you are on there every single day you will miss out on all the scrumptious info that we will have lined up for you. Whether we are writing about the talented people of SA that we love and support or whatever is of interest, it is worth the read. Remember you can make us your home page by clicking here Reason 2: Give your social life a serious boost because just about every single week we are giving you tickets to local gigs for free, mahala bathong, who could refuse that? There are also amazing prizes (big and small) to be won such as our trip to Mozi which closes in a week. Have you entered? Click here if not! Reason 3: Well three’s company so actually, reason one and two already tell you why you should be a part of the Represent community, remember only members get to enter and win competitions so put yourself in line! And whilst we are on the romance tip you should know (as we have already mentioned) we will be showcasing different designer’s work every single month on Represent. And this month we are on a serious lurv tip with our none- traditionalist Valentines theme “Funky Luv” so watch out for the new layout, it’s going to be tite! The identity of the designer is of course a surprise but we would like to thank Mzwandile Buthelezi (pinartbutta) for this month’s contribution, much love! You still have till the end of today to enter this weeks competitions, 2 Double Tickets to The Heavyweight Comedy Jam at Emperors Palace (Fri 10 Feb 07) and 3 Double Tickets to the Classique Party at Roka (Fri 10 Feb 07). See, there is always something for you on Represent! Don’t forget to send me your photos, cute video’s or interesting Valentines or any other stories or reviews. much love, peace...
Book of the Week: Fabulously 40 and beyond
Life is not always about us youngens you know… and besides that we are all going to turn the big 40 one day, (if we live that long), so why not read what it is like to be a forty year old woman living in South Africa, straight from the real deal women themselves, can’t wait to get their perspective… Book: Fabulously 40 and beyond Author : Orford, Margie;Schimke, Karin Subtitle: Coming into Your Power an Embracing Change Our price: R 128.00 Availability: Approx. 5 – 9 Working Days Paperback EAN : 9780864865885 144 pages Publication Date : 30 September 2006 Publisher : New Africa Education Publishing,South Africa Country of publication: South Africa Synopsis The authors spent time finding out how South African women respond to this phenomenon referred to as over 40. The result is a title that a woman would give to herself, to a friend or to a daughter going through this big transition period that involves psychological and physiological change that brings about much contemplation. Fabulously 40 and beyond is written primarily from an extensive base of questionnaires as well as from feedback from media work during the books development. The authors then synthesised and wrote this title from an extensive base of questionnaires and from feedback from media work to bring on important themes including identity, spirituality, body, family and other animals, leisure and pleasure. At the centre is a certain power that women come into as they move into their 40s and beyond which is a clear measure of where women in their 40s are at. Clearly, the title demonstrates that these women have humour, lightness, know how much they own, and do juggle things to get things in life to go the way they want. The book offers practical advice as well as relevant statistics. During the research phase Fabulously 40 and beyond saw much media interest including a feature on SAFM Otherwise, in Femina magazine and on Radio 702. This is no doubt a much-needed book that fills a gap dealing with this often difficult or traumatic stage in womens lives....
