Coldplay- Ghost Stories review: So heart breaking and hopeful

Florence Welch once said “When you’re heartbroken, you’re at your most creative – you have to channel all your energies into something else to not think about it. Contentment is a creativity killer, but don’t worry – I’m very capable of making myself discontented”. With this being said, Coldplay’s front man, Chris Martin was going through problems with estranged wife Gwyneth Paltrow and resulted to this beautiful work of art, titled Ghost Stories.

It’s a great improvement from their last album, Mylo Xyloto because now there is a lot of emotions and a beautiful story yet heartbreaking to tell. It’s not your typical Coldplay sound and not everyone will appreciate it but they are in a different place and this comes out in the music. Although Ghost Stories still has that Parachutes vibe but with modern sounds. The album revolves around a central theme of “opening yourself up to love”, and accepting that love does not last forever.

“How do you let the things that happen to you in the past – your ghosts – how do you let them affect your present and your future?” Said Martin in an interview with Zena Lowe. This has to be one of their honest albums ever because they have grown personally and musically, which led them to be close again as a band.

The only thing that’s not impressive is that they only have 9 tracks on the standard Cd and 3 more on the deluxe edition. They are so stingy with the songs.

Stand out tracks: Always in My head, O, Ink and A Sky Full Of Stars.
