It’s raining dance
Every year at this time of the year diversely shaped and beautifully toned dancers from all over South Africa (and even int dance companies!) gather in Joburg for the awesome Dance Umbrella.
Having done my time in the drama department (opting for acting due to my lack of supple body flow), I can tell you that these guys need every bit of support and applause they can get for their talent. It is a really tough career to follow, mostly badly paid, often damaging to their bodies in the long-term, and it requires immense dedication and commitment.
The tickets are really reasonable, available at computicket there is a broad range of performers to choose from and its staged all over our glowing city.
I had a glance at the program and spotted a couple of shows I can reccommend – I remember seeing Boyzie Cekwana perform a few umbrellas back – yum yum those abs – he’s got his show CUT on March 11 & 12. The Cape Townian Jazzart Company is always mind-blowing and if you’re already a connoisseur of dance check out the NEW MOVES which is always interesting – it’s the young and up comings showing their stuff and you get to see about 4 different jigs in one night!
