SO you’ve seen our posting on the FATBOY SLIM, SEETHER and COLLECTIVE SOUL concert – if not click here – in addition to these bands the wild 80’s and 90’s rockers METALLICA will be thrashing the rock crowd into a frenzy….

stival then heads to the ABSA Stadium in Durban on the 21st of March, and on to the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town on the 25th of March.

In what’s set to be an annual festival, music lovers are treated to the diverse array of guitars, drums and electronica. The hugely impressive line-up of artists already announced, include Simple Plan, Collective Soul, The Rasmus, Seether, Fatboy Slim, Prime Circle, The Finkelsteins, The Parlotones, Flat Stanley, State Far Better and the SpoonFeedas. It is with great excitement that we add an additional 4 artists to the RSVP’s for biggest party this year!

Globally worshipped Rock Gods Metallica are the sixth international favourites to confirm their attendance of the festival, with Youth Icon Karen Zoid, the controversial Fokofpolisiekar and multi-talented Sitter adding to the local line-up.

METALLICA have unleashed their musical firepower for more than two decades, released eleven uncompromising albums selling in excess of 90 million copies, and are undoubtedly the ‘Greatest Hard Rock Band’ in history. With such influential hard rock hits as “Enter Sandman,” “Unforgiven,” “One,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “I Disappear,” and many, many more, the band have toured extensively, playing alongside heavyweights such as Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen and Guns & Roses.

Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield formed the band (currently consisting of Lars, James, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo), in 1981. Their self-titled ‘Black’ album, released in 1991, was the one that saw their popularity soar to stratospheric heights. It went straight to number one all over the world and ended up selling in excess of 15 million copies. It also earned a Grammy and MTV/ American Music Awards. The hype around ‘St. Anger’, Metallica’s eleventh and latest album, meant they were the obvious choice for MTV Icons tribute show, which showcased their 20-year career, with peers such as Korn and Limp Bizkit lined up to pay tribute to them. They also performed live, marking the first ‘official’ live appearance of Robert Trujillo (Jason Newsted departed the band In 2001).

The album, a raw, unrestrained slab of molten Metallica went on to win a Grammy Award, hit No1 in 30 countries, and was followed by the infamous Summer Sanitarium tour. Their status was sealed, when the documentary ‘Some Kind Of Monster’, highlighting the world of Metallica between 2001 and 2003 was debuted to enormous critical acclaim at the 2004 Sundance Independent Film Festival.
