Well there’s loads of people making cultural events happen in Durbs, now we just have to hope that people go and support them&. JAMAD from Durbs got in touch, he is part of a music session called ‘Nite-out’ that showcases both established and upcoming muso’s – you go guys! Keep up the initiative.
Next week you can catch young singer and songwriter KASIA – sounds interesting.
A Nite Out With Kasia
The Nite Outs have become synonymous with showcasing some of the top names in the music scene from well-respected titles such as Steve Newman, Dan Patlansky, Nibs van der Spuy just to name a few. But, aside from focusing on top acts, the sessions have also made way for upcoming acts to demonstrate their abilities & talents. One particular upcoming artist who will feature on the next Nite Out Session is Durban-based Kasia.
Kasia‘ music is best described as Alternate Folk Rock but because of its various influences it cannot simply be confined to one particular category. Many people who have heard her music have referred her sound as Jack Johnson meets Tori Amos. The music is chilled and very technical, and the deceptively sweet vocals are an ideal cover up for the somewhat scathing and jarring lyrics which best reflect the life of a modern day 20-something year old woman in South Africa.
Kasia, the band, consists of two key members: singer & songwriter, Kasia & the highly skilled guitarist, Stephen Murray. Their charismatic personalities & on-stage presence ensure a performance that’s filled with effervescence, warmth & above all; skill. Kasia is currently recording their debut album called “Too Easy”
Commenting on her music, Kasia states “I believe in my music. My burning desire to communicate this passion to my fans is what drives me & keeps my message true&& simple.”
Kasia will make her debut appearance on the “Nite Out Session” on the Thursday 18th of May 2006 at Vestige Bistro & Bar corner St. Thomas & Musgrave Road. The show begins at 20h30.
