PAPER… ROCKS! Get arty at the the NSA in Durban

The NSA Gallery is a fabulous spot in Glenwood, Durban – you can sit and kuier at the Arts Cafe where they serve yummy food or just wander around the very reasonable arts and craft shop or you can wander into the gallery and check out the latest Art Exhibition –

But please take note visitors to Deben and Durbanites alike: THE NSA NEEDS Y…
OUR SUPPORT!
If you are not yet a member, please join – there is talk of a takeover by a corporate-style management, which would threaten the artistic integrity of the Natal Society for Arts.

Our Deben Dee-VA fills us in on what’s cooking at the NSA: PAPER… ROCKS!

Works on Paper is on show at Durban’s NSA Gallery until the 8 May. The exhibition features various works on paper, including sculpture, drawings, photographs and prints.

The eclectic mix provides relief from the sombre simplicity of the gallery’s main exhibit, Promised Land, by Bonita Alice. The room is crammed with diverse images and themes: from modernist prints by Walter Battis, to the quirky postmodern postage-stamp-type illustration by Kim Longhurst; from Ros Sarkin’s photographic study of Down Syndrome across cultures, to to garish and delightful multi-cultural pieces by Simmy Dullay.

Also included are works by Clinton De Menezes and Brigitta Gaylard, to name but a few. The most memorable pieces for me: Broken Coversation by Michael Croeser and, best of all, the field of pink paper piggies (and one piglet)!

Pop in before the 8th May!
