The first Cuervo Nation party for the year, subtitled, “Thanks!” takes place at the Horror Cafý. Located in Becker Street, Newtown and nestled in between the Turbine Hall and the Museum of Beer, The Horror Cafý is a brilliant double story venue with a great outside area and plenty of space for serious partying. There is loads of parking in the area as well as security on duty until the small hours of the morning. Thanks to access into Newtown via the Nelson Mandela Bridge, it is also easy to find!
“This party is going to be a huge thank you to the live music supporters of Johannesburg,” explains Bill Botes of On The Bill Promotions, “So , in order to say thanks to everyone for coming out to see bands in all of 2005, we are making entrance to this party FREE! I know everyone is broke in January, but you will all just have been paid and we want you to come on down to Newtown and really let it all hang out at this one. In addition, it’s not just a gig, but a full blown party with two of the best rock DJ’s in town. So, once the bands have finished, we are going to hit the dance floor until very late indeed.”
The Diesel Whores really need no introduction to live music fans, as they have been around for about five years now, playing their darkly humorous brand of tongue in cheek rockabilly. Myepic have emerged from the ashes of Blow to become a new force to be reckoned with in the hard rock department. Lark are a Cape Town based band with a strong underground reputation for their experimental dance rock fusion, dominated by the stunning vocals of Inge, the siren that fronts the band.
The sum total is a party with something for everyone: great DJ’s, three genres of live music and one of the best party locations in town. Add to this the party spirit of Jose Cuervo and you have the ideal way to get back into the party mood in January 2006!
