Fashion Week: Star Studded Audi Collections
The Audi Collections showcase was made up of a selection of designers who each showed some of their best garments from their ranges. The show was attended by several A lister’s including the first lady of SA; Mrs. Zanele Mbeki (who had photographers in a complete frenzy). The show was interesting because every designer had a celebrity to dress. Some designers had live performances by their chosen models, Zamajobe performed for Vukani Fashions, KB performed for Fundudzi and Unathi sang her heart out for Sun Goddess. Some of the designers took it a notch higher by creating original Audi gowns, so those Audi circles were used in some really exciting ways. Basetsana Kumalo (David Tlale), Ursula Stapelfeldt (Kluk), Nicole Fox, Edith Venter (Kobus Dipenaar), Yvonne Chaka Chaka (Hip Hop), Vanessa Carrera (Paul Van Zyl), Michelle Botes (Philosophy, Jenni Button), were some of the celebrity faces that strutted the catwalk. Fashion Week: CGdT and KLuK’s Tea Party
With an opening act of the typical boy meets girl and falls in love scene from a romance movie CGdT and KLuK launched their winter range. The gallery was draped in white lace and the catwalk scattered with coloured autumn leaves, the models walked slowly with small garden umbrellas- it felt like a big tea party. At first the boy and girl are in love and then they fight leaving the boy begging for the girls attention and affection and at the end they get back together and (I assume) live happily ever after. The clothing? Well in true CGdT and KLuK fashion, it was long silky lacy dresses pleats and cute little floral dresses. Hmmm, I don’t know you decide, check out the pics. Fashion Week: Philosophy- Jungle meets City
North African prints, zebra stripped bags, leopard spots, tiger stripes and slick sexy dresses and wraps are pretty much what made up this show. If you are a guy that likes to wear floral pants and tight headgear then Jenni Button’s Philosophy range is for you. Truly, I thought it was quite creative in a very jungle meets the city kinda way! Jenni has recently opened her second store in the Caper Town’s dynamic V&A Waterfront and a spectacular lifestyle outlet is being planned in Johannesburg for later in 2007. Divided into four and aptly themed: Independence, Courage, Passion and Abundance it looks like this winter is for the woman of substance! One of our citizen journo’s Vince found himself balled over by the range and this is what he had this to say… As the models glided across the stage with very apparent pizzazz I realized that every outfit in the Stoned Cherrie winter range is a must have! Bags, hats, Stoned Cherrie eye- wear, bold blue and gold accessories, a magnificent combination of cream leather skirts and knitted shoulder jackets had the audience literally gawking (I heard “oohs” and “aaahs”!)
