A man is not defined by the clothes he wears but by the way he exudes his confidence and charisma through his clothes. On 6th September 2013, Pop Sanity will be showcasing fashion for men’s wear. The event will be held at Sophiatown in Newtown, Johannesburg. Designers showcasing will include the likes of XO Royalty, Otiz Seflo, Sweet Ade, Ikitsi Fungee and Adohr JRD. This is a platform for upcoming designers to showcase their talents and passion for fashion. A way of giving men’s wear the attention it rightfully deserves and providing men with more fashionable options at an affordable price and easy accessibility. Pop Sanity would like to take this opportunity to also give back to the community, having worked with A Random Act of Love (AROL) before; we chose to use this opportunity to collect clothes, tinned food and toys for a charity home they have adopted. AROL is an NGO created by passionate individuals who just want to help those less fortunate. The event is a 3-4 hour event. This is an opportunity for our guests to network and designers to sell their products and build clientele. Pop Sanity would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their assistance in making this event possible. We acknowledge Remy Martin, Sofiatown, Pruth Magazine, Nu_vea and Red Bull for the their continuous commitment and support through this project. Our main sponsor for the evening will be Remy martin. Remy Martin is a brand that represents elegance, style and stature. Hence our association with the brand will be well acquainted. Dumile goes Back To The City.
#BTTC or in its full name, Back To The City is an event that gathers a variety of the “dopest” Hip Hop acts around. Represent teamed up with Dumile Mposula who tip-toed his way around the festival to bring us in his own words, the low down of the #BTTC event. The Back To The City Hip Hop Festival has grown into a hugely successful event since its inception in 2006. Attendance figures have increased from the initial 3500 to 15 000 last year. The festival features artists representing the pinnacle of artistic expression from South Africa and has grown into the largest public display of both commercial and underground hip hop in South Africa. The 2013 event was no disappointment. From graffiti artist spray-painting Newtown walls to B-boys doing their thing on the Redbull stage, all of Hip Hop culture was on display, it was a true haven for Hip Hop lovers all over the country. The artist lineup featured Maxhoseni, Tumi from Tumi and the Volume, Siya Shezi, Zuluboy, H20, iFani and Proverb to name a few. The surprise act from the United States, EMC2 also had fans going crazy. All in all, this year’s Back To The City festival was amazing and I’m sure 2014 will only be better....

Known for its freestyle recombination of influences which revolve around older production styles and the songwriting focus of disco, new-wave/synth-pop and R&B, Metro Area has injected much needed doses of funk and sensuality, mood and space back into the loop-based and seldom-subtle world of underground dance. Their debut album elicited superlative responses from The New York Times to The Onion, from web-logs to the Wire. Metro Area won a place among Rolling Stone’s “Top 50 Albums of 2002”, a rock and rap-dominated list for which most club/dance projects are not even considered. Further accolades include BBC/Radio 1’s “Dance Album of the Year” and a “Best New Artist” prize at the 2003 DanceStar/American Dance Awards. www.myspace.com/darshanjesrani Tumi featuring Papercutts Tumi’s pen carves rhythmically lyrical dreamscapes out of brutal realities. Each of his pieces unfold like a musical and spiritual journey through imagery as rich as the poets talent. His creativity speaks with dedication to the sincerity that the young artist lives by- this Poet / emcee, philosopher, dreamer, storyteller uses his words to challenge ego and a history of tragedy and the complex identity struggles facing this African man of the Hip-Hop generation in a post-apartheid South Africa. Tumi is the lead vocalist of Tumi and the Volume. The bands live debut album “At the Bassline’ received three South African Music Award nominations. The band has wowed audiences all over the country, impressed fellow musicians Black Eyed Peas (U.S.A), Blackalicious (U.S.A), Positive Black Souls (Senegal), Relax (the Netherlands) and has been frequent invitees to world-class music festivals. Tumi has just released a solo album without the band and alongside Johannesburg’s turntable legend “Papercutts” is re-introducing the traditional idea of a “mc and a dj” to his...
