kidofdoom on tour Again

A “swell” band to catch if you’re into Electro, sabre lights and uber-cool looking white kids – meet KidofDoom… plus they travel with DJ Sassquatch so there’s kiff dancing afters….The Chiz tells us they just got back from a successful tour and they liked it so much they’re pushing off again to holiday pastures – they’re also playing at Woodstock – it’s definitely the place to be next weekend for any rockers in the house.  Here’s the scoop – Sharpile Dave!: After a highly successful short tour of the Cape and Gauteng during October and November, kidofdoom  leave the happy homestead once again to complete the trip around the country and promote their self-titled debut album.  This time their dates take in the Woodstock festival, Bloemfontein and swathes of KZN as the band continues to seek new converts to their sound as well as play to the faithful.    “We have been so pleased at the reception the album has received so far, and the live shows have just been amazing” remarked Johann from kidofdoom. “We haven’t toured that much before, so to be getting this kind of reception is just totally cool. We are hoping the rest of the tour now will go as well as the first half!” This independent release is distributed by Kurse Music and is available in good record stores countrywide NOW. Recorded, produced and created solely by kidofdoom it is the perfect independent antidote to much of the mass produced and predictable sounds being released globally everyday. kidofdoom’s voice is unique and now, no matter where you live, you can get to hear it. Represent Recommends: The New Academics

Ok, so we’ve had the dudes’ album launch on Represent and mentioned them in a few gig guides, but busy Editorista just didn’t get around to seeing them until she was invited to the One Small Seed party last week…. Thanks to OSS for giving us a chance to enjoy The New Academics live – we loved ’em.  We hate to compare bands but it’s more about givng you our dear readers, an idea of their style….think Maroon 5 soul, 340ml funk and a whole lot of rocky energy and vibe.  Don’t know where the singer’s voice comes from (you’ll know what we mean when you see ’em live) – but damn the boy got some! We were impressed and will be purchasing their album – and that’s why we recommend ’em to you all – see their website here and next time they’re on the line-up, GO GO GO! The mega-fest kicks off at the New Market Racecourse in Johannesburg on Friday, March 21 and proceeds to the Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on Monday, March 24. In true “Coke side of life” style, MY COKE FEST 08 features the hottest line-up to date. A blend of the finest and most sought after International and SA talent! Thousands of fans are expected to flock to the 2-day, 12-hour, 10-band, adrenalin-fuelled festival, and feast on some of the finest live bands in the world! Only Coke can quench such a music-thirst… We searched the globe, screening hundreds of hopefuls, converting some of the biggest known bands to the Coke side of life, and are excited to announce the international line-up for MY COKE FEST 08… The all-star, multi-award winning line-up includes US Rock sensation GOOD CHARLOTTE, Britain’s “Best Live Act” KAISER CHIEFS, Sound Garden and Audioslave front-man CHRIS CORNELL, “Supermassive” MUSE, and the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning KOЯN. On the local front, the first band to be announced is one of SA’s top rock outfits, PRIME CIRCLE. This is only the beginning… so grab a Coke, watch this space, tune in to 5FM and enjoy the Coke side of life!  KOЯN KOЯN has redefined the parameters of heavy music, revolutionising the genre by matching unsettling guitar textures and volcanic rhythms with jagged, introspective lyrics and intense vocal stylings.  The band -Jonathan Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, Fieldy and David Silveria – is one of the most popular hard rock acts in the world today, with a dedicated fan base and widely acclaimed live performances.  They have sold in excess of 25 million albums worldwide, and four of their albums debuted in the top three of the Billboard Top 200, two of which entered the charts at number one. Their bold music defies categorization – it’s blinding musical fury, dark and twisted lyrical candour also radiates a hybrid funk and medicating, metallic shimmer. The multi-media maestros were the first band to simulcast a live concert in 2002 into movie theatres across the U.S. Earlier this year they filmed “MTV Unplugged: KOЯN” at MTV’s Times Square studio, for an MTV global TV event broadcast, across the US, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. MUSE Muse is the UK’s most innovative band. The three-piece group – Matthew Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard – produces a unique blend of alternative rock, classical music, electronica, heavy...
