Corne & TwakkieThe hottest university presents the coolest acts- catch the comedy at the Wits Theatre Complex every day between 05 and 10 February 2007 at 15h00 and 19h00. Headlining the festival are Corné & Twakkie of The Most Amazing Show, Kagiso Lediga, and Riaad Moosa with Joey Rasdien. Tickle those grey cells and warm up for a year of fascinating wisdom, opinion and ideas.

Corné and Twakkie have gained a cult following from their regular appearances at festivals throughout the country and have built on their success with their popular television programme. After studying drama at the University of Cape Town, Kagiso ventured into comedy and over the ensuing years established himself as one of South Africa’s most talented comedians. With a decade of experience and an impressive body of work on the local comedy circuit behind him, he is now lauded amongst the best comedians in the country. He has performed at all the biggest comedy events in South Africa and has appeared overseas at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. Performing with Kagiso are Ncoba Ngcobo (Backstage Actor), Thomas Gumede (A place called home SABC1), Tumi Morake, Nina Hastie and Kyle Thorpe (Highveld FM).

Edgy, polished and inventive, Riaad Moosa has been described as the most exciting comedy brand in South African comedy. A doctor, by profession, Riaad recently did his first One Man show at Civic Theatre. A run of full houses and four-star reviews was topped off with him co- presenting Mnet’s Laugh Out Loud. Riaad has performed in all major local festivals and he has a string of international shows on his CV. And he’ll be at the Wits hee hee hee Comedy Festival to dazzle the audience with what he knows best: Comedy.

Joey Rasdien
He’s smart, he’s young, he’s MTV and he’s constantly redefining himself. The busiest comic in SA in 2006; Joey Rasdien is one of the hottest comics working today. He has set attendance records and has been knocking ‘em dead across South Africa. He’s one of the lead actors in the new SA comedy “Running Riot” and he’ll be in the forthcoming Comedy movie “Bunny Chow” as well. No wonder he’s one of the hottest comics working in SA today.

Best Man’s Speech
The team that brought you The Most Amazing Show starring Corné and Twakkie proudly presents Best Man’s Speech, written and performed by Louw Venter and directed by Rob van Vuuren. Best Man’s Speech is a one-man comedy epic about saying everything you always knew you shouldn’t but just couldn’t help yourself. Don’t say you weren’t warned!

The Young Gunz
Roni Modimola will be presenting The Young Gunz of South African Comedy: Denton Douglas, Thomas Cronje, Mr T- The Comic, Judy Jake (Wits Drama Graduate), and Wayvinne Dawson Roni is well known for his satirical, fun- pokery at the expense of the rich and famous, and for his memorable stand-up comedy routines in front of many thousands of loyal South African fans. His first break came at Hysterix Comedy Club back in 1998 where his quick wit and irreverent observations quickly made him the hottest commodity in the local entertainment industry. He remains one of SA’s most popular entertainers. He has done major local festivals and he has performed in Zanzibar, Zambia and the UK.
