Wicked Wednesday in the Deep SOUF bru

Whosyrmama invites you to see if you’re rough enough to go underground with her in the southern suburbs – she gives good … directions We love people that make UNDERGROUND the NORM – keep representing!! For cheap entertainment on a Wednesday Night go and watch all walks of life “pull in” at Wesbank Raceway to race their cars – some new Porches some Fiat uno’s souped up …with NOS (Nitrous Oxide)some “stock standard” that just want to see how well their cars will do. You just have to go at least once! See the wheels, see the cut off jeans and pony tails, see the crew, see the smoke and hear the revs – every Wednesday night at Wesbank Raceway. R20 per car gets you in – alcohol and food available you can sit on the grandstand or you can sit at the restaurant and watch the cars speed passed on the 400m drag strip! Here’s a blurb on the SouthSide Crew – the crew who organize and run the Drag Racing at Wesbank Raceway – it’s really wicked how it came about – take the time to read this: SouthSide Crew was born under a full moon, on the streets, in the south of Jozi. In the south being respected is a huge thing amongst the youth. Leaders are usually born here out of fear i.e they’re the best fighters & knock most amateur boxers in to the dark alleys of La Rochelle or respect, earned through actions, hype or just plain love. These are usually the people who are looked up to. Cars have always been a way of life for generations come & gone especially in the south. A nobody unknown can become a SupSuperstarll known if he hooks up a ride that looks sweet or be the fastest on the street. It’s an invisible crown earned & given by the people themselves. This be no lie. It’s been proven over & over again. U wanna have a laugh, most peoples names are saved in their cellphones according to their rises or what modifications thyey’ve done to their rides eg eg.rco M3, Arief VwTurbo, Alex Turbo, Jose Jedi. I know this cause these are a few numbers saved on my phone. So SouthSide Crew came about when, we the youth of the south, harnessed all the elements of the underground & put it together. The revolution of the SMS become our no1 tool. We’d sms a few top racers to join up at a certain location at a certain time. SMS’s would be forwarded & a ripple effect continued. I’d arrive only knowing the location of...

UNHAPPY LAND ROVER OWNER causes a REAL stir

Seems like we not the only ones not scared to complain about bad service. Has anyone read about the disgruntled LAND ROVER owner (Andy Gray) in Cape Town that published an ‘OPEN LETTER TO LAND ROVER’ over half a page in the CAPE TIMES??? Well that was big news – read here for the marketing web article. Land Rover w…rote a rather stiff small and boring reply in the letters section.. But not so for HYUNDAI – Hyundai has cleverly jumped on the bandwagon so to speak. Kim Penstone really sums it up in this great article. Hyundai published an ‘OPEN REPLY TO DISGRUNTLED 4×4 OWNER’ offereing him the use of their new TERRACAN 4×4 for a month. The ad cost them R22 000 and was done by the quick thinking Jupiter Drawing Room. Baie Kleva ne!!!! NO MORE SECOND RATE...

Need a flatmate? Need accommodation?Friends?

Anyone that has lived in London will be able to tell you about the very useful one-stop site www.gumtree.com. The good news yet again, is that they have seen the gap and expanded to SA – gumtree has started a Joburg, Cape Town and very recently http://durban.gumtree.co.za/…... The gumtree is an extremely utile tool in making a good life for yourself – when I lived in London I used it to find accommodation, work, friends (no – just joking – but some people do use it for that!) travel deals, flatmates etc. There is no central point in Joburg that I am aware of where one can find generic info on living in the city and we at Represent wish them luck with their venture! It would be great if it was an SA company running it – but the global network, experience and connections that they bring through are well worth the import... Come on guys let’s use it. A bit of history: Established in March 2000, www.gumtree.com is the UK’s most popular recruitment and community web site. The site has become a vital survival tool for all those who are either new to a city, or find big city living complicated. Gumtree.com is now one of the UK’s busiest websites and receives more internet traffic than any UK recruitment web site according to Amazon.com’s research wing, Alexa.com. In January 2005 alone the site received 1.1m unique visits, and so far the site has received 1.9m postings, well in excess of 4,000 postings daily. The site was awarded second place in the Daily Telegraph Website of the Year award 2004....

Nothing to do yet for Easter- get to SPLASHY

When I think back to the 90’s and the first Splashy Fen that I ever went to, I have a vague recollection of some very groovy days spent lolling around in crusty clothes listening to folky types singing about flowers and peace… ah yes those glorious sunny daze lying lazily in the lap of the majestic Drakensberg mountains … ahhh… Splashy – u beauty. B…ack in the day the Splashy Fen festival was a haven for anyone that loved live music, old brown sherry and tie-die t-shirts…well I i bet you that not much has changed – and I’ll eat my beanie if it has. It’s a fantastic platform to check out both new and old talent and a veritable music driving force particularly for the Kwazulu/Natal music scene. Splashy Fen is back on and looking bigger n better than eva. It’s from Thursday 24th March to Monday 28th March – yes that’s the Easter weekend – it takes place on the farm Splashy Fen, situated 19 kms from Underberg in the Southern Drakensberg Mountains. There’s a sparkling river that runs through it and generally sunny days. Don’t forget your tent. The line-up is a lot less folky than back in da day – some of the well-known names i would love to check out: Diesel Whores, Prime Circle, Deluxe, Thumi and the Volume, 340ml, Fuzigish and the Rudimentals… Limited discount tickets of R250 are available on a first-come first-serve basis – available at various GAME stores and through computicket… but once those are sold out they will revert to the very reasonable price of R320 for the entire weekend which includes camping etc – you can buy them at the gate. And for those Rugby fans – only in South Africa – there’ll be a BIG SCREEN with the Super 12 Rugby on the SAt afternoon. So there’s no excuse. SPLASHY...
